Journey Into Your Chakras

The Chakras are of immense importance to your spiritual growth.  It is through the wakening and understanding of these sacred energy centres that you are able to obtain a higher state of awareness, intuition and liberation.

They are your Jacobs Ladder to Enlightenment.

There are many different interpretations of the chakra system and many seers will describe them from their perspective. In spite of the differing traditions, opinions and interpretation of the chakras they all tend to have in common a description of being spinning wheels /discs of energy. The word chakra in Sanskrit means wheel or disc and the Hindu teachings are believed to go back about 4 – 6 thousand years. Beyond our physical we have subtle bodies and it is within the subtle body called the Etheric (of the ether) that the chakras are located. They interact with the physical body through energy vortexes, which link into the endocrine system.

Each chakra is located at a point in the etheric spinal column where lines of energy criss-cross, these corresponding with an endocrine gland within the physical body. There are many such chakras situated all over the body but there are 7 main chakras which link to the colour spectrum.

Once again differing traditions give these different colours but all are in agreement that the chakras vibrate to a given frequency which is at its lowest in the base/root (Muladhara) chakra and at its highest in the crown (Sahasrara) chakra. These spinning vortexes attract and repel energy bringing into your life the situations, events and circumstance you require to progress in your upward journey to Self Realisation and Liberation. There are many levels to each chakra and the growth upwards in consciousness goes on throughout our earth incarnation.

Kundalini

The Chakra system spins due to negative (feminine) and positive (masculine) energy which starts in the base/root chakra and weaves it’s way around each chakra completing in the third eye (Ajna) chakra. This energy is called Kundalini which in Sanskrit means ‘circular power’ and is derived from the word Kundala meaning ‘coil or ring’. Kundalini literally means ‘that which is coiled’. It has a feminine ending which denotes that the energy is of a feminine nature and is called in Hindu traditions The Goddess Kundalini.

The Chinese call the Kundalini energy Chi, the Japanese Ki, Christianity, The Holy Ghost. When the Goddess Kundalini awakens and rises like a serpent up the central channel within the spine, piercing the seven etheric webs surrounding the chakras, it opens the crown chakra and you become one with the whole universe, Liberation and Self Realisation are obtained. It is the ultimate goal of all religions and spiritual traditions to become Self Realised and working with the energy flowing through our chakras, cleansing, purifying and balancing brings us closer to this exalted state of divine bliss.

The above is a very brief description of this powerful transforming energy.  It can be very dangerous to try and force this spiritual energy to ignite by extreme spiritual practices.  It is advisable to seek out a teacher who is knowledgeable and can guide you safely through the chakra system.  This energy has been known to lead to severe mental breakdowns.

Igniting the Flame Within's teachings on the subject of Kundalini is to encourage the aspirant to work with the Chakra system on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels of their being to ensure that the Kundalini energy is opened in a gentle and knowledgeable way.

Lotus Flower

The Chakras are sometimes referred to as Lotus Flowers and in India the Lotus Flower is sacred because it is said it was the Lotus that gave birth to Vishnu as it floated on the Cosmic Lake. These beautiful flowers are symbolic of the path of development from a primitive being to a fully blossoming consciousness The flower with its roots in the deepest mud starts its journey pushing upwards through the water reaching the first glimmer of light as the tightly formed bud comes from the murky depths. Above the water it begins to unfurl its one thousand petals as it fulfils its potential opening up in perfection to the divine light.

This very short description of the chakras given below does not do full justice to the qualities of these important spiritual growth centres,

The upper chakras need a greater sensitivity and purification opens us up to these perceptions. It is hear we begin to talk out truth. The key word associated with this chakra are n Communication n Vocal expression n Interaction n Truth. The communication is not only to do with speaking but also listening. We receive vibrations from our surrounding all the time which can have a detrimental or beneficial effect on our being. The vibrations from our spiritual guidance is part of this listening but do we stay silent long enough to hear? This chakra is associated with the colour of the summer sky blue.

(AJNA) 3RD EYE

Ajna originally meant to perceive and later to command. After the perceptual aspect of this chakra is opened, we are then more able to command our lives, through projecting the content of our visualisations. The two petals associated with this chakra represent n Two worlds of reality n Manifest and Unmanifest n The intertwining nadis, Ida and Pingala which meet at this point n The two physical eyes which surround the third eye n The Pineal and Pituitary Glands. The two petal also resemble wings symbolising the flight of the mind and the ability of this chakra to transient time and space allowing the inner spirit to fly to far distant places. This chakra is associated with the higher levels of intuition. The colour associated with this chakra is Indigo.

This state of consciousness is beyond reason, beyond the senses and beyond the limits of the world around us. The colours associated with this chakra is lavender/violet.
